UPDATE thông tin E3
Nintendo đã chính thức công bố các game sẽ có mặt tại E3 2010:
NINTENDO WII
Conduit 2
The developers at High Voltage Software became the darlings of the Wii's hardcore faithful with their impressive technical achievements in the first Conduit game released last year -- though the final product did ship with a couple of flaws that kept it from reaching the absolute peak of its potential. Conduit 2 looks poised to springboard off its predecessor's success and strike at perfection, though, and E3 will give us our first chance to go hands-on with its alien-blasting upgrades, like a brand new co-op mode called Team Invasion, and a verifiably old-school split-screen multiplayer option. Will HVS deliver at E3 again? Undoubtedly.
Epic Mickey
Disney's upcoming reimagining of its iconic Mouse will make its E3 debut in LA this year, and we're looking forward to getting our hands on it to see just how it handles -- since we're already sold on the style of its art and environments, which twist classic Disney characters and theme park locales into a kind of dark, inky steampunk setting called the Cartoon Wasteland. It's rumored that this project, which was first revealed last fall, has been undergoing some pretty significant upgrades in both style and scope since we had our first look in October. Will the result be an even grittier game, or could the Big D have decided to reign in some of Epic Mickey's more extreme ideas? We'll find out in just a few weeks.
Lost in Shadow
Call it Lost in Shadow, or A Shadow's Tale, or Tower of Shadow -- whatever you like. But regardless of the many conflicting, confusing names this project has held and the fact that it might therefore be troublesome to find, it's still chief among the upcoming Wii projects we're psyched to track down and see at this year's E3. Hudson's crafted a visually engaging puzzler/platformer here, using modern graphics technology to fuel a game design that just couldn't have happened decades ago. That's why its old-school gameplay vibe, that otherwise might have felt at home in the early '90s, is so intriguing. E3 is usually defined by loud and large designs or sequels to established hits, but each year's show can also always be counted upon to offer us a new, fresh, lower profile project to look out for -- Lost in Shadow could be it, this time around.
Metroid: Other M
This year's E3 show is happening right in the middle of June, and until recently that's when Metroid: Other M was also expected to ship to stores. The game's release date has since shifted back a couple of months to August, but even that timeline still suggests that we'll be playing a near-complete build of the game at the Convention Center -- so you can expect in-depth impressions on just how it handles, how the Wii Remote shifts from being held sideways to pointing at the screen (as Samus shifts from side-scrolling to first-person views) and just how much extra polish has been added to the adventure since the last time we got to sit down with it at GDC. There wasn't much playable there, back in March. But we're just weeks away from what we crave -- more.
New Zelda
It's been almost a year of nothing but rumors, speculation and vague developer quotes since the next Legend of Zelda adventure was announced with a single piece of concept art at last year's show, but the curtain's about to be pulled all the way back at E3 2010. Expect Link's next epic quest to be a major focus for the Big N this year, as details on the game's storyline, setting and all-new control scheme are unveiled -- we'll learn just how the MotionPlus peripheral will enhance our hero's swordplay, likely see the same increased motion-sensing capabilities used to upgrade several of his classic secondary weapons and maybe even get the name of that mysterious girl who shared the spotlight in 2009's mysterious painting. It's going to be a very good show for Zelda fans.
NINTENDO DS
Dragon Quest IX
There's been a pretty big question mark hovering over the DS-exclusive Dragon Quest IX ever since its Japanese release last July -- how will it make the transition to America? It's been a sales sensation in the franchise's home country, but could that same success translate to the States? Both Square Enix and Nintendo hope so, as the RPG-famous development house has given the Big N publishing rights on this side of the Pacific -- and E3 will be a critical moment for the two-company partnership to persuade a whole new nation of gamers to take up the all-new quest. Expect major emphasis on this one, with tons of new details, artwork, media and hands-on impressions from our team as the Dragon Quest series makes its return to Nintendo system exclusivity after an absence in America that stretches back to the final days of the original 8-bit NES.
Golden Sun DS
Last year's E3 demo of Golden Sun DS lasted, literally, five seconds. The playable portion of the product was only a single screen long -- you took the hero, walked him across about 20 feet of territory, and then the demo was over. It shifted into a video reel after that. Needless to say, then, that we're expecting much, much more out of this long-awaited RPG at E3 2010 -- and we're sure to get it. A full demo with a much longer and larger playable environment to explore, the introduction to the game's main cast of heroes (in detail) and our first chance to go hands-on with the newly revised battle system should, hopefully, await us -- giving us much more to go on and get hyped for in 2010 than the brief tease we saw in 2009.
Okamiden
Unlike many of the upcoming DS projects on tap for this year's E3 show, Capcom's Okamiden may not release in final form in America in this same year -- 2011 is a more likely candidate for the retail product to end up on domestic store shelves. That makes its E3 presence all the more important, as the time we get to spend with it in June will have to make enough of an impact to last us through December, and beyond. We have confidence that the showing will be just that strong, though, as this sequel to our 2006 Game of the Year has already captivated us with its vivid and expressive art style and its perfect pairing of the original Okami's Celestial Brush gameplay mechanic with the interface of the DS touch screen. We're not looking forward to the wait afterward, but we can't wait for Okamiden at the show itself.
Pokemon Black & White
The hype train for Pokemon's upcoming fifth generation is already building steam across the sea, as Japanese gamers are currently enjoying weekly info updates on the new Pokemon Black and White Versions. Five new monsters have been revealed already, including the three new Isshu Region starters. And we've seen screenshots, and video, and artwork . . . but all that's been in Japan. E3 2010 will be America's unveiling of the games, as we expect to get our first English-language details of the two games that could very well be the swan song for the DS hardware before all attention shifts to the 3DS. If history repeats itself, Black and White will drop in Japan this Fall and follow into the States next Spring -- meaning this E3 will be the only E3 before we're playing and catching them all again. Nintendo won't miss out on that opportunity.
Super Scribblenauts
Unquestionably the most unexpected smash hit of E3 2009, across the board, whether you were a journalist, a developer or a member of the Convention Center cleaning crew, was Scribblenauts. 5th Cell absolutely charmed the entire show with its beautifully clever and heartwarming "write anything you want" puzzler design, bringing the imagination of childhood back to life as everyone in attendance racked their brains at Warner Bros.' demo stations to try to stump the game's ridiculously thorough dictionary. Super Scribblenauts, the sequel, could very well be ready to steal the show for a second year in a row -- introducing thousands of new and revised nouns to call upon, adding adjective support to modify and transform any and all summoned objects and, critically, improving hero Maxwell's control. You can bet that 5th Cell, after being an under-the-radar smash at last year's E3, will be at the top of tons of attendees' booth visit lists here in 2010.
