1. N1K2-J climb rate.
According to this post Lord Chip made :
Shiden Kai has a VERY good climb rate. First of all we need to remember, that there are no high altitude effects - as the devs said in Q&A - so all the planes climb there with 2-3 m/s better than really should.
How it replies to reality ? Well, first of all it's hard to find a data for this, specific model - N1K2-J.
US Army made a tests on a captured N1K1-J mod 11 George, captured on Philippines in 1944. Tests were made on march 1945.
Spoiler
Plane had average climb rate up to 10000 ft (~3000m) - 19,23 m/s, and up to 20000 (~6000m) average 17,85 m/s. As you can see in table, the climb rate dropped with altitude !
But those are data from a N1K1-J mod 11 - a year younger model.
I will try to point you some major differences :
a) N1K1-J had mostly a Nakajima Homare 21, but it was early model - only slightly better than Homare 11.
The engine not only didn't reach planned 2000 HP - the real power was 1800 HP.
The N1K2-J, as a late 1944 plane had a new, better model which allowed to reach 1990 HP !
b) The MASSIVE change in construction of plane - the wing-fuselage structure, and new engine cover (or rather hood).
Look at this picture :
rxj1.png
Top one is N1K1-J, the second is N1K2-J. N1K2-J from a mid-wing (N1K1-J) plane become a low-wing plane !
The hood had a new, more aerodynamic shape and the whole fuselage was longer to lower aerodynamic resistance.
Now the most important difference - armament position. The N1K1-J had 2 20mm cannons in gondolas and 2 20mm in wings. It increased the air resistance and all the manouver and climb characteristics were affected.
While the N1K2-J had all armament in wings - no such problems as above.

So the aeordynamic characteristics were much better than in a tested model.
c) Weight :
N1K1-J weight - empty - 2710 kg, combat weight - 4226 kg
N1K2-J weight - empty - 2540 kg, combat weight - 4240 kg
Shiden Kai was only slightly heavier, while it's engine gave better output and the aerodynamic characteristics were MUCH better.
It is obvious now that the plane can climb better than N1K1-J, more than 21 m/s. If you add to this a lack of all effects, which causes overperforming climb rate in game you will get (24,5 - 2 or 3 m/s will give the climb rate I've mentioned). In that case the plane climb rate is historically accurate, the problem lies in a things independent from a plane !
2. Diving speed.
Some people here complain on a dive speed characteristics, that Shiden Kai can follow Corsair 1c in a dive. That is not true.
But lets jump to a historical data, in April 1944 tes pilot Yoshio Shiga in a diving tests reached a 798,6 km/h. So the plane was able to follow Hellcat and Corsair in a dive but the second one for a time only, at the end Corsair was able to outdive Shiden Kai. In reality Corsair was able to reach 890 km/h in a dive (in a game I start feeling a "drag" with 850 km/h speed on 1c model so it's pretty accurate).
3. Manouverability.
People complain on Shiden Kai manouverability, that this plane is much bigger than Zero and turns almost like it.
Well, that's basically close to true performance.
In reality plane had automatic flaps system, allowing it to turn as good as Zero (without deployed flaps) - so expect in future that Shiden Kai with added auto flaps system will outturn Spitfire without problems.

4. Durability.
Some people complain on N1K2-J durability, that plane is as durable as US fighters.
Shiden Kai had fully armoured cockpit - an (13 or 15 mm) steel armoured plate behind pilots seat and another steel plate behind pilots head. Also the plane had 70 mm armoured glass protecting pilot from a frontal fire.
Now lets compare this to Hellcat, P-47 and P-51.
P -47 had 9,5 mm armoured plate behind pilots seat, 9,5 mm armoured plate ahead of control panel, and of course a 5-60 mm bulletproof glass in front of cockpit. Hellcat had pretty much same defense system.
For example P-51 had additionally had a massive armoured plate just behind propeller, behind engine and armoured coolant tank.
In that case the defensive system was same in N1K2-J and P-47 , and was worse than in P-51 from front - couldn't protect engine from frontal fire (but Nakajima Homare was radial engine, as all here know radial engines are more resistant).
But from the rear and flank the pilot had same protection as US pilots :kamikadze:
Self-sealing fuel tanks. Shiden Kai had fuel tanks made from 1,6 mm thick steel, covered with a few layers of natural and synthetic rubber, between layers there was a synthetic substance which bilged in a contact with fuel.
So you have pretty much same protection on American and Japanese planes, fuel tanks resistant to a small caliber hits (7,62, 7,9, 0,5 cal).
It's no longer a paper plane.
So, to sum up. Your efforts to smash this plane (typical behaviour of allied pilots) wont happen this time. This plane WAS good, it's overperforming in climb rate because of a things independant from it. When all high altitude effects will be implemented your P-51D or Corsair 1c will have a big advantage on 5000+ m altitude.
But you just want to whine, rather than wait.
Now I have a note made with the testes N1K1-J, that one captured in 1944.
Spoiler
Some of the unfavourable features were changed in N1K2-J, because of new, better aeordynamic shape, better engine output. And due to new technology of production - N1K1-J fuselage contained 66 000 parts, N1K2-J less than 43 000.
